BeagleBone: Perl alternatives to Bonescript

So in a previous post I stated that I’m starting to lean towards the use of perl rather than bonescript for the development platform on the beaglebone. Don’t get me wrong bonescript is still a good thing – that I’m sure will go a long way, but I think that the benefits of perl win out in my applications. So far the Beagle Bone web community hasn’t seen to much talk about Perl.

In a comment on a previous postScott Penrose wrote about his new perl implementation he calls perlbone – much similar to the Arduino environment alot of us have come familiar with. Scott had setup a Git hub repo, that has since been removed – I’m hoping to see what he comes up with.

In another corner of the web, has also been hard at work at implementing a perl approach to programming. Toby has too started a Github repo, like bonescript Toby has started pin mapping, SPI and got a LCD screen Running.

Great!! I’m hoping that we can see some collaboration and start pushing forward in numbers! Plus I hope Scott doesn’t mind if we run with his coined term ‘PerlBone’.

Watch this space – better yet, start to code in this space.
